more…overgrown?”
“That is
a common misconception,” I said, continuing with my trimming without looking at
him. “Humans might find an unkempt cemetery less inviting, but as humans have
little enough inclination to enter a graveyard after dark in any circumstance,
I can hardly be bothered to suit my arrangements to that variety of trespass.
Indeed, an ‘overgrown’ state, as you put it, would only serve to signal to any
ambitious spirit that the keeper of this place has become neglectful, or is
even entirely absent. That is not the sort of influx of trouble I wish to
encourage; I have quite enough to do without inviting the presence of
delusional ghosts.”
